The Jaunt – Moscow
Everyting in Moscow has been made to impress. From the avenues, the buildings and the statues to the huge parks. They put so much effort into showing their greatest achievements that you automatically feel small compared to it all. But while everything looks to be in good shape, you only need to scratch a little bit under the surface to see through it. Old Soviet flats, once a symbol for greatness, now seem to be nearly falling apart. Often, only a coat of paint is the solution. When The Jaunt invited me to go Moscow and make a screenprint based on my experiences I tried to look behind all this to capture a glimpse of the real story of this city. Printed in an edition of 60, available here.
