Van Gogh & Japan

Although never being able to travel to Japan, Vincent van Gogh was hugely inspired by it’s famous ukiyo-e woodblock prints. By collecting and reproducing them he introduced a whole new visual language to his oeuvre and the artworld. To show this influence on his work the Van Gogh Museum set up the exhibition Van Gogh & Japan. They  invited me to show how both Van Gogh and Japan are still big influences on artists nowadays. This resulted in an animation where I mixed my visual journals from Japan with renditions of Van Gogh’s works.
